Asthma Care
Asthma Management
Our practice offers a comprehensive asthma care program tailored to the needs of children. Our pediatricians are specially trained in the diagnosis and management of childhood asthma. Diagnosis often occurs during a sick visit when a child is wheezing or showing signs of asthma. However, asthma may also be identified during a routine well-child visit based on your concerns or findings from the physical exam.
Pulmonary Function Testing
Pulmonary function testing is a non-invasive way to evaluate your child’s lung function, monitor their response to medication, and assess overall asthma control. This test is typically performed at least once a year and may be repeated when adjusting medications. Our providers carefully interpret the results to help guide and personalize your child’s asthma treatment plan.
Asthma Education
We educate families on environmental controls and how to avoid asthma triggers. During visits, we observe your child using their inhaler to ensure proper technique. Information on caring for medication devices is provided and reviewed at every appointment. Additionally, we provide a personalized Asthma Action Plan to support your child’s care at school.
Maintenance Visits
Children with asthma should be seen in our office every 3-6 months depending on their severity of illness and their asthma control. Regular visits are required in order for us to evaluate your child prior to medication refills.
