Insect Bites

Insect bites are very common this time of year. With increased outdoor play we are more likely to come in contact with a variety of insects. Mosquito bites can be quite bothersome and itchy, some may even swell up after the initial bite. Applying a cool compress and topical over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream and even an oral antihistamine may provide some relief from the itchiness. If the swelling does not improve with over the counter treatment, please make an appointment in our office for further evaluation. 

Remember prevention is the best treatment! If your child is 6 months and older, applying insect repellent spray with deet is a great way to reduce the chances of being bit by insects.
